Kalla Beton Signs MoU with DPD REI South Sulawesi & Bank Mandiri

MAKASSAR – Kalla Beton signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the South Sulawesi Regional Board of Real Estate Indonesia (DPD REI Sulsel) and Bank Mandiri at the Saoraja Ballroom, Wisma Kalla, on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

This three-way collaboration is set to strengthen the supply of Kalla Beton products in support of residential housing development across South Sulawesi.

The MoU was officially signed by Ali Syamsu Wairooy, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Kalla Beton; Mahmud Lambang, Chairman of DPD REI Sulsel; and Puguh Jati Tri Saroso, Acting Area Head of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk for the Makassar Sam Ratulangi Area.

COO of Kalla Beton, Ali Syamsu Wairooy, highlighted that REI has a vast network of property developers. Specifically, in the Mamago area (Makassar, Maros, and Gowa), more than 300 developers are currently registered.

“This partnership with REI gives Kalla Beton a clear and guaranteed market. We have secured a steady customer base for our various product lines,” Ali explained in a written statement on Friday, November 22.

Ali further noted that the majority of REI members focus on building subsidized housing. For instance, the construction of one 36 m² housing unit typically requires 10 cubic meters of lightweight concrete blocks and around 50 bags of instant mortar, based on a 1:3:1 mix ratio — one for adhesive, three for plaster, and one for finishing coat.

DPD REI Sulsel is targeted to build 25,000 housing units annually. This translates into an annual demand of approximately 250,000 cubic meters of lightweight blocks. “If Kalla Beton captures even 50% of this market, we would already be supplying 125,000 cubic meters of lightweight blocks per year, alongside a proportional amount of instant mortar,” said Ali.

As for transaction facilitation, both Kalla Beton and DPD REI Sulsel have chosen Bank Mandiri as their official financing partner. “So when developers want to order products from Kalla Beton, they can easily arrange the financing through Bank Mandiri,” he added.

Sales & Marketing Manager of Kalla Beton, Syatir, shared that the MoU received an enthusiastic response from the developers. This was evidenced by immediate orders of lightweight concrete blocks following the meeting.

“They’re also very keen to learn more about our products — some even expressed interest in visiting our factory. This MoU gave us valuable insights into the kinds of products developers need that Kalla Beton currently doesn’t offer,” said Syatir.

“There are products developers currently have to source from Java. So why not produce them here in Makassar?” he added.

To close the event, Kalla Beton held a door prize giveaway for the attendees, offering rewards such as free lightweight blocks and discount vouchers for mortar purchases. (*)
