Kalla Construction Participates in Indonesia Construction Expo 20

MAKASSAR –  Kalla Construction—comprising Bumi Karsa, Kalla Aspal, and Kalla Beton—participated in the Indonesia Construction Expo 2024, held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang, Banten. The group’s participation aimed to introduce its construction products and services to a broader audience, particularly at the national level.

During the three-day event, which took place from November 6–8, 2024, Kalla Construction showcased its flagship products such as emulsion asphalt, lightweight concrete blocks, and instant mortar. The booth also provided product information related to bulk asphalt, ready mix, precast, and a wide range of construction services covering roadworks, water resources, building construction, and energy infrastructure.

Kamaluddin, Director of Kalla Construction, stated that the event was a strategic opportunity to promote the group’s product offerings more widely, especially across Java and surrounding regions. “With its national scale, we hope to establish valuable partnerships for each of our business units—Bumi Karsa, Kalla Aspal, and Kalla Beton,” Kamaluddin said on Sunday, November 10.

At the exhibition, Kalla Beton presented various instant mortar variants, including lightweight block adhesive, plaster, skim coat, finishing coat, and tile adhesive. They also showcased Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) lightweight blocks in a variety of sizes—60x20x7.5 cm, 10 cm, 12.5 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm—tailored to meet diverse customer needs.

Kalla Aspal, meanwhile, featured its emulsion asphalt products, including prime coat (CSS), which serves as a bonding agent between non-asphalt surfaces and new asphalt layers, and tack coat (CRS), which bonds old and new asphalt layers together.

Bumi Karsa, known for its active role in Indonesia’s infrastructure development, highlighted its recent achievements, including the successful completion of the Lausimeme Dam—one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN)—in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. The dam was officially inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in October 2024.

“Bumi Karsa, Kalla Aspal, and Kalla Beton remain committed to supporting sustainable infrastructure development across Indonesia. Our long-standing experience in the industry is proof of our dedication to delivering top-quality services to our partners,” Kamaluddin added.

Iwan Soma, Manager at Kalla Beton, elaborated that one of the company’s flagship products showcased at the event was the Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) lightweight block. Designed to meet the growing demand for efficient construction materials, this product offers a significantly lighter weight than conventional bricks—an essential feature for enhancing structural resilience, especially in earthquake-prone areas.

“Our lightweight blocks offer several advantages, including reduced weight, fire resistance, low water absorption, high compressive strength, and sound insulation. With precise sizing, they are ideal for projects that require construction accuracy,” Iwan explained.

In addition to lightweight blocks, Kalla Beton also introduced its line of instant mortar, available in various types such as tile adhesive, lightweight block adhesive, plaster, skim coat, and finishing coat. The tile adhesive (product code KB-818) is the latest innovation, specially designed for practical and easy tile installation. Made from a cement base mixed with silica sand, additives, and other key ingredients, this instant mortar eliminates the need for manual mixing.

“Instant mortar significantly simplifies the construction process for our customers. There’s no need to mix cement and sand manually, and the product is ready to use without requiring skilled labor or specialized workers,” he added. (*)
